10 Months Old

At 10 Months Old

Weight: About 19 pounds
        Percentile: ~45%
Height: unsure because we can't measure in the cast
        Percentile: ---
Sleep: Pretty good, she has slept through the night a few times this month but then started cutting another tooth so she is up a few times a night again. However, her naps are like a dream compared to how she used to be. She takes two a day and are usually over an hour, sometimes up to two. And it takes about five minutes to get her a sleep now. It's like heaven compared to when she was younger. I'm anxious to see how shes going to sleep once the cast is off since she will be able to move better. I really think she will be a side-sleeper.
Clothing size: 6-9 or 6-12 months. Still in size 3 diapers. 12 month clothes are a little big and too long for her arms but she still wears them anyway.
Milestones:  Elli CRAWLED this month!!! It was a funny inchworm thing because of the cast but she is now mobile when she wants to be. She can pull herself all the way across the room super fast. She'll only do it mostly for food, but she can. She can also roll over both ways really fast now in the cast. It's so excited. She's trying so hard to pull to stand but can't because of her legs. I think that as soon as the cast is off crawling and possibly walking won't be very far behind. She also learned how to wave and say hi, she knows what it means to give kisses, and she is talking like crazy and using so many different sounds now.
Special Outings: This month we got to go to a halloween party and trick or treating with Dusty. Elli got a sucker and thought that was the best. Other than that we didn't go too many places, it's been a big month at home though. We carved pumpkins and Elli painted them with edible paint.
Month Highlights: New cast! It's amazing. She seriously is so much happier with it and it's so nice to have her be able to sit and be mobile. We had halloween with pumpkin decorating, trick or treating, and parties. It's been a very fun month.
Big Changes: Elli now waves and says hi, and whistles occasionally. She is trying so hard to be able to do so. She has developed the funniest personality and always makes me laugh. She doesn't play much with her baby toys but loves adult things. She is eating a lot of solids now and feeding herself really well. She is mobile which is so exciting. Only two and a half weeks until cast off. We can't wait.
Elli's Favorites: her stacking cups, any kind of food, suckers, cell phones, watching videos and looking at pictures of herself. Animals, Books. Paper. Always paper, any kind of food, kissing and talking to herself in the mirror, outside, being thrown up in the air, sitting in her high chair, drinking water, chewing on her toothbrush, playing with your hair, going out in public, playing with stuffed animals, talking and singing, cords, music.
Thoughts: This month has been so fun for me. Elli is becoming more and more adorable everyday. It's nice for her to have more mobility because she will play for much longer without getting bored. She loves to give her daddy kisses which of course just melts my heart. She's getting a longer attention span when you read her books and will sometimes make it through a whole book before getting bored. I am getting so incredibly excited for cast off that I can't even stand it. This cast has been great, it really has, and I'm so grateful that we have it instead of the old one and it's gone by so fast, I can't believe we only have two and 1/2 weeks left. I still just can't wait. I want to go swimming and see my baby crawl for real and stand and try and start walking. I'm also excited for her to get to wear pants again especially with it getting colder. I just love her so much, everyday I'm amazed at her and how adorable and fun she is. We still haven't had very many words from her other than Hi, but I'm excited to see what she starts saying over then next months.

Cast Change

On October 17th Elli had her cast change and got a new cast. They had to put her under general anesthesia again and hopefully that is the last time she will have to go through that for awhile. The doctor gave us an xray and said her hip is looking great, is exactly where it should be and is stable. We are very happy and excited to hear that. She once again, did absolutely amazing with everything and is such a champ. Her new cast is so much better and will make the next 6 weeks fly by. We officially have our appointment to get her cast off too. So December 1st and 945 in the morning we will be free! I was really hoping that they would take it off before thanksgiving but our surgeon will be out of the country so we have added 4 days to our cast time. The fact that she can sit up in this cast though makes it not so bad. She truly does amaze me with how strong and resilient and happy she is. She has been through a lot in her short life but she has never ceased to amaze me.
